If you take slight deviations, you can visit 6 to 7 of the Ashta Vinayaka Temples (plus Shivaneri Fort) on the way from Pune to Bhimashankar. We did the same two years back.
Also, don't forget to visit Moola Bhimashankar, which will be half an hour walk in the forest. This is the birth place of Bhima river and is a serene place.Report Abuse
I have visited Bhimashankar long back, it is one of the jyothilinga obviously. Enroute when we were travelling back to Mumbai, we happened to visit Shivneri Fort of Shivaji. This is a nice and historical fort to visit since Chatrapathi Shivaji was born here.Report Abuse
Hi Divya:Bhimashankar, primarily is famous as one of the jyotirlinga places in India. An ancient Shiva temple, close to Bhimashankar river,is the major attraction. Its also popular for"Shakhru"[local name for wild Squirrels>.You can see them,if you are lucky.
I strongly recommend to stay at the jungle Holiday Resort "Blue Mormon",hire a hill view Cottage.Take with you electric kettle, tea bags, some eatables, fruits etc.Restaurent of this Resort offers nice food.Best time to visit is rainy time, till Sept. for lush greenary small waterfalls etc.Pl view few additional photos of Bhimashankar from my photogalary, for some idea on it. Have a nice trip.
