Hi! Mr Sahoo,
If you reach Haridwar in the night ...make it early night or late evening....then you can save one day. Start for Mussorie from Haridwar late evening by Taxi...to save time.... and reach mussorie by night ..so that the family can rest the whole night and then get up fresh in the morning...for Mussorie sight seeing.....Kempty falls....Hill Top view via a cable car and then a mall road shopping experience.22nd you can go to Kempty falls and the Hill Top via cable car.In between you can squeeze the mall road walk ...and late evening start for Dehradun and stay in a Hotel in the night and then catch the early Sun and sight seeing at Dehradun.A d then proceed to Rishikesh for sight sighing.and return to haridwar for stay at midway hotel overnight...they have nice ambience and boating and all the food is also good the tents are good.Morning move to Haridwar for the trai...But use a Taxi service ...for 2 daysthis will save time.

Hi, you have taken very less time, you need to see the following atleast.

Aarti at haridwar Ghat. Rishikesh (Laxman Jhula). Mussorie Mall Road, Kempti Falls, Government Garden.

I would travel like this (with this short period):
Take Warm Cloths (Jacket, Muffler etc). 22'nd Early Morning Take Good Taxi to Mussori (Avoid fog).5 hrs. travel, book hotel at Mussori for the night. see as much as you can before it gets dark. enjoy Mall road in the evening. After Sun rise (23'rd) come down to Rishikesh.(On the way "Shasra Dhara" Hot water spring). (1/2 day). Spend the evening at Haridwar Ghat (Aarti). 24'th catch the train. There is not much to see in Dheradoon (how ever, its en route).

Keep updating your Train timing. Now a days trains are getting very late (3-4 hrs.) to & from Delhi

hi sahooji, its nice to see you travel at this time of the year with family...actually its winter time so i guess first of all you are devoid of much out door adventures...so i guess you can attend the aarti in haridwar and then in dehradun u can just travel in ur car/taxi so that u dont feel cold..also it gets dark after 4-5pm in winters so there wont be much to look around..i would suggest you get out in your car early in the morning o that u can cover as much as possible...mussoorie is famous for its water falls and sceanic beauty...best one is the kempty falls...enjoy your trip and places to stay would be the govt. guest houses as they are cheap and comfortable at the same time...if u wish to indulge then there are many hotels enroute to both dehradun and mussoorie...enjoy and take care

Reach Mussoorie in the begining. Reach Dehradun, visit: Forest Resrach Institute, Sahastradara. Visit: Rishikesh
You have only 2 days to cover. Taxi will be best.

Dr Sahoo,
Your schedule is hectic, to say the least I would suggest that you stay overnight in Haridwar and see the city on the 22nd. Go over to Rishikesh (60 minutes) in the afternoon, stay on for the Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan, before leaving for Dehradun (90 minutes). Else stay on in Rishikesh and leave for Mussorie early morning (approx 2:30 hours). Spend the morning in Mussoorie, and head back to Dehradun (45-60 minutes) in the afternoon. On the way stop at Mussoorie Lake and Shahastradhara, before going to your hotel. If you have time, and the inclination, do visit the Mindroling Monastery.
I hope you have a fantastic trip.

If you are travelling to Rishikesh then don’t forget to go to shivpuri. That is around 21 km ahead from rishikesh. Shivpuri is very famous for Ganga beaches and for rafting sport. You can stay there in any beach side camp. In night they will provide you campfire. All the facilities including the food will be marvelous. Prefer to stay in beach camp as compared to the jungle camp.

Warm Regards,

Dear Dr. Sahoo,
Keeping in mind that you just have 2 days to cover 4 places - isn't that too hectic. I would advice you following itinerary:-

21st night - reach Haridwar, stay at Haridwar
22nd morning - take a dip at the holy Har ki paudi, after having Indian breakfast, depart for Rishikesh. See LAxman Jhula, few ashrams in Rishikesh, depart for Mussoorie.

Reach Mussoorie at around 4 pm. do some sight seeing, dinner.

23rd morning - Get up early, do sight seeing, see if you can go to Kempty falls.

23rd evening - come back to Haridwar/Dehradun, take rest.

24th morning - catch your train. (You haven't specified the time of your train, if its in late morning, may be you can have a 23rd night stay in Mussorie itself, if you plan to see Kempty falls and in Dehradun/Haridwar if you plan to see Kempty falls and Sasthradhara).

Happy Holidays !!!

Dear Dr. Sahoo,

Firstly I would like to inform you that, your visit will be full of excitement and enjoyment during this winter time. Be prepared with all sort of warm clothes and umbrella too. I guess you are travelling from Orissa.

If possible book accomodation only in govt guest house. You can book it online. I always prefer these guesthouses. These are clean and safe.

The Guesthouses which were suggested by alumnitrek are perfect. You car hire an innova from Delhi. Even you can find lot of good vehicles from Haridwar only.

as you are reaching Haridwar on 21st night, you can spend 22nd whole day in haridwar and rishikesh. Reach dehradun on 22nd night. Start for Mussorie on 23rd morning after breakfast and spend whole day there. Come back to dehradun at night and catch the AC spcl train at night 11pm to reach Delhi early morning on 24th.

Enjoy your trip

DEAR DR. SAHOO,

YOUR WHOLE TRIP DEPENDS ON HOW MANY PERSONS TRAVELLING WITH YOU.

STILL DON'T BOOK ANY HOTEL IN ADVANCE.WHEN U REACH HARIDWAR ASK ANY AUTOWALA TO TAKE U TO A HOTEL OF YOUR CHOICE(IT CAN BE A DHARAMSHALA TO FIVE STAR HOTEL).IN HARIDWAR THERE IS A BARGAIN OF 40 TO 50% ON HOTELS UPTO THREE STAR LEVEL.IN THE MORNING TAKE A CAB TO MUSSOORIE.ON YOUR WAY U CAN SEE LAXMAN ZHOOLA AT RISHIKESH WHICH IS ONLY HALF AN HOUR DISTANCE FROM HARIDWAR.THEN MOVE TO SHASTRADHARA IN DEHRADOON.BY EVENING U WILL REACH MUSSOORIE.TAKE A HOTEL THERE FOR 2 NIGHTS.IN MUSSOORIE U CAN SEE CAMPTY FALL,LAL TIBBA,GUN HILL,LAKE ETC.IN THE NEXT 2 DAYS.ON 24TH RETURN TO HARIDWAR OR DELHI BY ROAD.

Dear Dr. Sahoo, for your impending trip, I would suggest the following:
1) At Haridwar stay at Rahi Motel
2) At Rishikesh stay at Rishilok
3) At Dehradun stay at Hotel Drona
4) At Mussouri stay at Hotel Garhwal Terrace.
All the above bookings can be made in one go from Garhwal Mandal official website : www.gmvnl.com
Regarding your transportation, better to hire a car or jeep from Haridwar/Rishikesh. If number of members are 4 or less you can go for Ambassador or Indica. Ambassador will give more luggage space. If you are 5 to 8 members go for a Qualis/Sumo jeep. The rate per day could be from Rs.1500/- to Rs. 2,500/- per day.
Hope you have a fabulous journey!
