Dear Zarib,
Pathankot Bus depot is nearby the Pathankot railway station. you can actually walk down the distance( if you do not have lots of luggage).
If you have luggage, engage a horse cart at the station and they will take you to the bus depot. The horse cart rider may be knowing the time of next bus to Dalhousie.

If possible, book your Pathankot to Dalhousie bus ticket on net. ( www.hrtc.gov.in is the website ). You need to register yourself on the site before you book your tickets. You can access the website through the www.hptdc.nic.in, too.

If you are a group of travellers, book a private vehicle from Pathankot. There are several operators near Bus Depot who offer services ( Indica / Innova etc are available). You can ask the horse cart owner/rider about the same, too.

Wish you memorable holidays there.

Thanks since most replies said a bus journey to dalhousie is not recommended, i will try a train to chakki / pathankot or alternately will stay in amritsar for a day.

However, if I decide to take a train to pathankot/chakki can i have some information about the bus service from there to dalhousie? Will i get it from close to the railway station?

I reach delhi at around 8 or 10 am . What time will i reach dalhousie if i take the pathankot route?

Bus travel between Delhi and Dalhousie will be too tedious and very long. If possible, please DO NOT travel by bus on this sector.

You can take a train to Pathankot or Chakki Bank - then get a bus / private vehicle from Pathankot for Dalhousie. This is the best way to travel.

You can opt to travel to Amritsar ( instead of Pathankot/ Chakki Bank) - spend some time there ( visit Golden Temple and Jalianwala Baug and Durgiana temple.). There are direct buses between Amritsar and Dalhousie in the early morning.

If you are really opting for bus travel between Delhi and Dalhousie:
take a bus to Dharamsala - direct deluxe bus service is available. From Dharamsala, switch for Chamba / Dalhousie bus ( mostly these are local services). This will be bit comfortable. Dharamsala buses ply during nights.

Hi Zarib,

I would suggenst you book a train from Delhi to Pathankot and then hire Cab from Pathankot to Dalhosie. Going on Bus from Delhi to Dalhousie after long travel from Mumbai would be very very stressfull.

Hi Zariab,

As you get down at New Delhi Railway station, take Delhi Metro and reach ISBT. You will get buses to Dalhousie from there itself.

Hi Zarib ... When I had travelled, we had taken a train to Pathankot/chakki bank from delhi ... any jammu bound train passes through Pathankot/chakki bank, from there dalhousie is 80km takes about 3 to 4 hrs by bus/car, u can get frequent buses or hire a car from there .. not sure of the bus from delhi though .... u can read my blog for more info
