Hi All , I am planning a honeymoon from 4th or 5th Dec till 10th Dec in north (Himachal or Uttarakhand )We don't wish to go to the usual destination , we want a destination which is less popular and crowded, we are not interested in see sunrise or sunset points but just taking good long quiet walks, enjoyng the nature and the local flavours, I am from Bangalore so I don't have much of idea about the less popular but good destination in north, could anyone please help with detailed info, I plan to reach Delhi and travel from there, I have few destinations in mind (Dalhousie, Chamba, Khajjiar, Ranikhet, Kausani, Almora) can anyone suggest which one will be good or any other destination. Thanks in advance

Planning a trip from 4th or 5th Dec till 10th Dec, leaves you with 4-5 day for the trip. I would not like to include the day of arrival & departure for any planned activities.
Dalhousie is peaceful for leisure strolls. You can spend 2-3 days exploring Dalhousie, Kalatop wildlife sanctuary & Khajiar. For honeymoon trip there is not much in Chamba.
You can take a cab & reach Dharamshala/McLeodganj in about 4 hours & spend 2-3 days in McLeodganj.

You should go to Khajjiar via Dalhousie..Dalhousie is peaceful, but not that much attractive..Khajjiar is ideal for honeymooners..a stroll along the valley is wonderful..very few crowd in the morning and afternoon..so that both of you can enjoy each other's company..Stay at HPTDC Cottage..You must have seen this in 1942 A Love Story..Summer Camp scene of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was taken at Khajjiar..Dharamshalla is another destination you should not miss..Stay at Upper Dharamshala.. A view of Dhauladhar just behind the HPTDC Hotel at Mcleodganj in December must be awesome. For any other query, write to me..

I have always like Chamba.Visited the town several times-latest in july 2009. Dalhousie & Khajjiar are easily reachable & nearby places. Private cabs available in Chamba for visiting these places. Bharmour is one more place, bit away from Chamba (70 kms) but beautiful. Worth the tedious travel to the place.Hotel Irawati is the best place to stay in Chamba. Several places u can stroll to in the town and some interesting shopping, too ( I believe ur spouse might be interested in few memorable souvenirs.Pathankot is the nearest railhead. Delhi will be proper airport if you travel by air. From Delhi u can travel by a Jammu bound train.I know few cab/taxi operators & Hotel Irawati people. If u decide to visit the place, I will send u details of the same.Email me(nbgin61@yahoo.com).You can have a look at latest photos of the places on my orkut profile, too. Look for Nitin Gaonkar from Mumbai with tagline "explore me...as I often say". Wish you happy memories of the honeymoon period. Nitin.

Hi, most of the places, you have chosen are quite peaceful and in December, there should not be a problem. As these are not very crowded destinations like Manali, Shimla, Mussoorie, Nainital..etc. Dalhousie is a good place to go, Khajiar is just a picnic spot that one can go from Dalhousie. Ranikhet is also lovely & peaceful.
