An excellent place for Govt. Officials and their guests to stay in Port Blair. The place needs to be booked through the CPWD office at Port Blair. Since the number of rooms are less, one has to book well in advance. Contact details are available with the CPWD Offices all over India. Tariff depends on the type of visit and guests as per norms fixed by the Govt. The place is barely 5 minutes drive from the Veer Savarkar Airport and one can see the runway and airplanes landing and taking off, right from the windows of the room. Amazingly though as strange as it may sound, even though this is a Govt owned establishment, it is run very professionally and efficiently.
Rooms are very spacious and air conditioned and exceptionally clean. The Bed linen is fresh n crisp. Rooms have been provided with Plasma TV with cable connection for entertainment. The Toilets are spacious and clean and are fitted with some of the most modern fittings. There is provision for hot and cold water too. A walk-in cupboard separates the toilet from the room. Adequate sitting space has also been provided. The complex is surrounded by by lawns with well pruned shrubs planted in thematic pattern making it delightful to the eyes. An elaborate lounge furnished with cane furniture serves a common spillover area for the 6 rooms. Immaculately maintained and is nothing short of a 3-4 star accommodation. The guest house staff were courteous, polite, and always ready to help. There is a kitchen in the guest house serving simple healthy food to the guests. Though, a dining room has been provided in the main entrance block adjoining the lobby, Room Service is also available.
There was nothing we did not like at the Guest House.
