I had booked an overnight stay in Corbett Jungle club resort for 30th October 2010 more than a month in advance. I planned to do the next morning safari in Corbett national park and checkout. While booking the resort I asked Ms. Chitra repeatedly if advance booking of safari is required but she and one other person later assured me that I could book the safari when I checked in to the hotel. This was confirmed by Mr. Sharma who is the manager at the resort when we checked in. So I asked him to book our safari for next morning. To our surprise he came back and told us that the morning safari was fully booked. This ruined our visit to Corbett and we had to go for a safari in the Sitavani zone where no permit is required and the only wildlife you can see is a few deer and monkeys.
No positives really except that the food was neither good or bad.
1) The resort is 20 Kms from the gates to enter Corbett national park and very far from all other resorts in Ramnagar. 2) The response when you book the resort online is very poor. Any mails you send will go unanswered. 3) The manager Mr. Sharma was drunk when we checked in the evening.
4) The room did not have a telephone. When asked Mr. Sharma informed that the telephone in that room was damaged in rains and never replaced.
5) The room was not prepared when we checked in late evening. There were no towels or soap and we had to ask for them. 6) We ordered a simple hot milk for my child which the room service took 90 minutes to deliver.
7) Our wake up call and morning tea for the safari never materialized. Luckily we had set our own alarms and had to wake up the receptionist by walking to the reception as there was no phone in our room so he could arrange for the morning tea. 8) The staff tried to swindle us out of 100 bucks saying it's for our drivers food even though he had paid.
