Also known as the Little Tibet of India, Kaza or Kaja or Kaze is a 'Hill station' (yes, you read it right, it is called that), which is little different from run-of-the-mill hill stations you'll find in Himachal Pradesh. Kaza, the cold cold desert in the Western Himalayas is a perfect place to 'get away' from it all.
The terrain, climate and the culture (Buddhist) is similar to what you would find in Ladakh. But Kaza has its own charm. At an altitude of 12,500 feet above sea level, Kaza, along the Spiti River is approx 400 km from Shimla. And no wonder, it takes some time to get there!
