Amboli, a quaint hill station situated at a height of 690 m is particularly known for its dense forests and steep mountains on one side and having the sandy Konkan coast on the other side. This destination was developed by a British political agent Colonel Westrop.
Amboli is covered with mist during the rainy season as it receives the maximum rainfall in Maharashtra. It is also the last mountain recourse - after this the coastal highlands settle to form flat beaches.
Amboli has some of the best bird's-eye views of the Konkan coast. Submersed by thick forests of Anjani trees and cardamom plantations; crisscrossed by a number of tiny streams, this destination is a great place to unwind from the city chaos. The hill station is a romantic honeymoon destination too with its seclusion and beauty.
Amboli has a number of waterfalls to boast of during the rainy season. Amobli is pleasant and cool during summer. The best time to visit this placid and beautiful hill station is between the October and February.
Hotel JRD International, Shiv Malhar and Green Palace are good places to stay in Amboli. One can also opt for MTDC’s Green Valley Resorts.
