Renukaji is mainly a religious destination in the Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh. It is renowned for its enchanting lake and beautiful temple. It is located at a distance of 22 km from Nahan and is easily accessible by road.
The primary promise of the place is the Renukaji Lake and is considered to be a form of Renukaji, wife of Jamadagini and mother of Parashuram. All of them have their own temples and for those who are in search of spiritual enlightenment can have an enriching time visiting each of them and attending Puja.
This famous lake is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year on Kartika ekadashi. Close-by flows the Parshu Ram Lake which vaguely resemble a human figure. Legend has it that Parshu Rama's mother consecrated into water out of which this lake was formed. Towards the end of the lake are towering palm trees which offer ideal picnic spots during day time.
Nightlong festivities including Kirtans are held by various groups. The Aarti that takes place in the evening is a sight to behold.
For wildlife lovers, Renukaji Wildlife sanctuary holds great promise. Spread over 400 hectares of wood and grass land surrounding the sacred and picturesque Renukaji Lake, this Wildlife Sanctuary despite its small size, is home to several species of deer like Chital, Sāmbhar and barking deer.
