Pach Kedar, one of the most difficult pilgrimages in India, refers to the five temples of Lord Shiva in the Himalaya – Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar, Tungnath, Rudranath, and Kalpeshwar. These are located in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand State. Out of the five, Kedarnath is the most visited temple as it is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India and one of the four Char Dhams in Garhwal Himalayas.
Kalpeshwar is also called Kalpnath.
It is believed that the Pandavas, after their victory in the Mahabharata war, wished to pay homage to Lord Shiva to atone for killing their relatives. At Kedarnath, seeing the Pandavas coming, Lord Shiva disguised himself as a bull. But the Pandavas came to know about the disguise.
