Driving by your own car? Tank up at Kotdwara, as you won''t find any petrol pump in Lansdowne and petrol may cost up to Rs. 15 extra per litre in black.

Lansdowne: before I write something, let me ask readers, what is their idea of a hill station... because Lansdowne indeed is a hill station.

So often in rut of this fast paced life, we need to be away from mind numbing work, traffic jams, malls, restaurants and try to find out what we are. If that is your idea of nirvana, Lansdowne would help you know yourself better.

That brings me to what I said above. What is the similarity between Lansdowne and Shimla? Both are gorgeous, scenic... provide a breathtaking view of mighty Himalayas. Sounds good?

What is not so similar between Shimla and Lansdowne? Well... Lansdowne has no traffic. It is not a shopping destination, no cinema to watch movies, no eateries for a special meal, no well known hotel chain, no night life.

You may ask then what is good in Lansdowne? In my opinion, not having any one of above is what makes Lansdowne a better hill station.

Lansdowne gives you a chance to be so close to the nature that you walk on empty roads surrounded by lush green trees, you look at the mystic Himalayas and get a chance to know your partner better... you spend some precious moments of your life in a peaceful environment

The beauty of Lansdowne is in its peace and greenry... don't miss it... and a genuine request ... don't spoil it.

There is no need of hiring public transport in the city, because scenic beauty can only be enjoyed while going uphill on foot, by hiking along the roads or trekking paths

Kotdwara is the closest railway station to Lansdowne.
You can hire a jeep to reach Lansdowne from Kotdwara.
The jeep charges Rs. 350-400 for 6-8 people.
